Decorator's Best Friend

Move stuff whenever you want. No cheats, no OMSPs.

It's the yellow teddy, found in misc decor for §1.
Access menu in build mode: CTRL+SHIFT and click.

This is the same move/tilt/turn functionality than in my Pose Player Add-on, but now available both in live and build modes.

In live mode the interactions appear to objects, and you can click them to move them.
In build mode it is not possible to add new temporary interactions to objects so the menu appears on the teddy itself.

Remember to remove the interactions though the teddy before removing it and playing on :)

In Live Mode

1. click the teddy
2. add move interactions to all objects
3. click on the object to move it

In Build Mode

1. CTRL-SHIFT click the teddy
2. select the object you want to move
3. use the menu in teddy to move the object

The lamp is moved up 1 tile, tilted and
turned.

PS. If someone knows a trick for taking in-game screenshots of menus without getting color distortion, please let me know!

Known Problems

Be careful while moving things - you can move them underground or out of your reach. If you do, there is no way to get them back. There is no reset in this thing. If you worry, use the reset-able version in Pose Player Add-on to learn how to use this.

Sometimes, in build mode, items don't appear in the select menu after they have been moved once. As I found this useful, I didn't fix it.

  2. This is great and much easier than having to use the OMSP for items especially if you are trying to place a lot of things. Thanks so much!

  4. To take in-game pictures, use Steam. Steam is a program for buying/downloading/playing games. You can also run non-steam games through it. Simply open steam, choose to "add a non steam game", and add TS3W.exe. Launch teh game via steam and you can use the screenshot key (Which is F12 by default, I think?) and the program takes a picture of the screen and saves it to its own folder. When you close the game, a popup shows you the screens you took. You can see them on the computer by clicking "Show on Disk" and then upload them wherever you want.

    1. Thanks for the tip!

I have Steam, but I didn't know it would do the trick. Next time when I need pics of menus, I'll try it :)

  9. Yessss... OMSP had stopped working for me, and the creator couldn't figure out why, so I was out of luck. Until now. :D YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY

  10. if you delete the teddy after you're done moving things around, will the objects stay in place? does it apply to the whole lot or just a room?

  11. Do you need to have any additional installations for this to work? You mentioned the Pose Player Add On, do you need that? Or can you just install this mod as it is, with nothing else, and use it? And can you delete the teddy after using the mod, or does each room need to have one constantly in it?
Thanks, and this mod sounds awesome! I just want to make sure I understand it completely before I put it in my game.

  12. Thanks everyone!

Alicia, ejran1, you can delete the teddy when you are done. Just remember to select "remove move interactions" before you do, or the objects remain movable. If that should happen, you can put the teddy back, add move interactions again, and then remove them.

ejran1, yo don't need Pose Player or Pose Player Add-on for this to work. At least you shouldn't need to have them, I didn't test without them though. If it requires them, let me know and I'll fix it.

  15. Is MediaFire not working? I'm trying to download but it won't redirect. Weird.

  16. I've added the teddy to my sims room, and I get the add move interactions button, but I can't get the remove interactions button, so my sims can permanently move their objects. I've tried selling it and buying it again, and turning on move interactions again, but still can't get the remove button to show up.
Do you have any suggestions for me? And is it safe to save my game like this?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sorry, my last comment was not entirely correct. I can select remove move objects interactions, but the objects still remain moveable. Even after I've deleted the teddy.

    1. It should be safe to save the game (but I guess objects may still store the move interactions). I would have suggested to try what you already did, adding a new teddy and trying with that... but you said it doesn't work.

What particular objects this happens with? Or does it happen with all the objects in the room? What's your patch level?

Are other people having this same problem?

    2. It happens with all objects in the room, and I have the latest patch (1.48).

I'll probably just remove the package file for now, and maybe try it again later.

      Thanks for your reply!

    3. I actually have the same problem, and with all objects I tried it on, so nothing particular. I will probably keep using it because I really like it and don't mind the object having more interactions, but I would be glad if you stumble on an explanation/fix :)

    4. Oh and I forgot to mention, I am on patch 1.50.

  19. I wanted this the second I saw it. When I read your comment that the items stay in position even after the teddy object is removed, I wanted it even more! I am humbled by your awesomeness!

  20. So the same thing is happening to me as well, I don't have any problems saving with the interactions still attached to the objects (which is a good thing) but the reason I'm posting is the game spits out a script error for me when I try to remove the interactions from objects. (that big nasty blue box). I've saved the script error in case you want it to see if you can figure out where the error is :D

  21. Could you possibly provide a bit more detail, please? I'm new to modding on Sims, and I try to make a room... and I have a list of like 50 objects come up ._. I'm trying to build a gazebo outdoors, so I put a wall around it (maybe I need a roof?) and yeah, a ton of stuff comes up. It wouldn't be a problem except I can't find the ONE object I need lol. My eyes kinda jitter when I try to read lists of stuff so this is a nightmare for me :( Thanks if you can help!

    1. Oh, I'm sorry but the item names in the list aren't complete, they only have the internal name. And if you have for example 3 items of same type, they'll all show with the same name and you'll just have to try them out to find the right one.

You do know that the mod also works in the live mode, where you can put the move on from individual objects? That way you can just click the object that you want to move.

    2. Thank you, and yes I tried live mode. That seemed to go all sorts of wrong for me... I moved my SIM into the makeshift room I created around the gazebo (even put a roof and boxed him in) I activated the animal, and after that the options were strange. Like it acted as if it had auto selected some random object from my house, not the room that the SIM was standing in...

So I kept clicking on something that said cancel move, or something like that. I was never able to simply click the object I wanted to move, it would not work. If you'd like I can post screen shots? I'm not playing it right this second so I'm a bit horrible at describing the issue I faced. Sorry I can try to be more descriptive if you'd like :3

    3. Also, I believe I found the program. It simply won't register my objects. I placed what you find in the outdoor>roofing, it's like trimming for your roof. It won't register it as an object. Am I doing something wrong or is it not included? Thank you, it seems to be working on other objects, I'm still trying to get the hang of it is all!

  22. hi misukisu,
thanks for this awsome mod! i have only one question: does it work somehow with sims, too? can i move them too? I used OMSP until now, but always when i try to put sims down, they are getting darker.... looks very strange and i didn' find anything to fix this. This is the reason i am searching for a new mod to move sims. :)

    1. Hi Katharina,

No, this mod doesn't let you move sims, but my pose-player add-on lets you do that :)
